For many homeless families, there are several steps to take before they can secure housing. We work closely with our families to find suitable and affordable housing. However, the lack of affordable housing in Calgary definitely puts a greater stress on families.
Inn from the Cold is currently raising funds to purchase a building or property for a pre-transitional family shelter. This much-needed shelter will give families the gift of time and a stable place to stay while they get the help they need to rebuild their lives.
We have also partnered with Metis Calgary Family Services and Aspen Family and Community Network to create a 32-unit supported transitional housing project called Rainbow Lodge. Our Outreach team works closely with families living at Rainbow Lodge, who can stay anywhere from six months to two years.
