Volunteers are vital to Inn from the Cold. In many ways, they are the heart of our organization. Throughout the year, almost 4,000 volunteers of all ages and walks of life spend time setting up cots, cooking and serving meals and spending time with our guests. Some stay up all night to ensure that our guests have a safe and good night’s sleep. Others get up before the sun rises to make breakfast for guests before they begin their day. Still others take time to make nutritious bagged lunches so that our homeless families have something to eat during the day.
- The benefits of volunteering are endless, but key points include:
- Giving hope to families in need
- Learning new skills
- Meeting new friends and building your network
- Making a difference in our community.
As a volunteer, there are many ways that you can help Inn from the Cold. Whether you are able to give a few hours of your time or help out at an Inn on a regular basis, we appreciate your contribution. We are always looking for people who share our philosophy of compassion and respect for our guests, and who simply want to help us give hope and help to Calgary’s homeless families as they rebuild their lives. A list of current opportunities is available here.
