Recognition

Each year, we host a recognition even in honour of these valuable team members. The event was an incredible success and we were honored to have this opportunity to give thanks to our volunteers who generously give the gift of time. Highlights included a delicious soup and sandwich lunch with lots of yummy baked treats for dessert, a trio of talented musicians from the Mount Royal University Conservatory, plus two phenomenal guest speakers - one volunteer and one former guest. Our volunteer talked about how rewarding it is to donate her time to the inn and how much she enjoys spending time with our guests. Our former guest shared her incredible story of hope and described how the inn played a vital tole in her journey.

As a follow up to a Volunteer in Profile article in the Volunteer Voice we hosted an appreciation barbeque for our senior men guests.

This simple event found the Volunteer Resources team, with the assistance of a few of our meal service volunteers, serving up a tranditional summer feast. With a barbeque brought in especially for the occasion, we grilled steaks that were served along side all the traditional fixings; corn on the cob, garlic bread, coleslaw and potato salad. The steaks were some of the biggest and thickest on the market and our special guests rose to the "challenge"; gobbling down every bite! The evening was a perfect tribute and thank you for all the vonlunteering these gentlemen provide the Inn.
