Playing for Change.....Family Day Weekend Concert
February 19 at 8:00pm
We are delighted to enter our 15th year with an uplifting concert in recognition of the power of community. Overwhelming public response to the 2010 debut of Playing for Change in Calgary has inspired us to bring this talented group of musicians back to our city for a special charity concert. Hosted by the Inn and presented by Encana, the main public concert will be held in the MacEwan Ballroom at the University of Calgary on February 19, 2012. An intimate "Unplugged" version for sponsors and guests will be held in the MacEwan Ballroom on Family Day, Monday, February 20.
Playing for Change is an internationally acclaimed group of musicians who are former and current street buskers - a natural fit for the Inn! Millions of people worldwide have been inspired by their message of hope, and we invite you to share this remarkable experience with us.
In 2011, Playing for Change partnered with the United Nations to present an original song called "United," which was heard around the world as an anthem to the earth's 7 billion population milestone. With over 37 million YouTube views of their tribute song "Stand by Me," we know that the anthem will be a huge success.
We hope you can join us as we celebrate the kick off of our 15th year. A special rendition of "Coming in from the Cold," remixed for Inn guests, will be played at the event, as we aim to raise awareness about family homelessness in Calgary. We look forward to enjoying the evening with like-minded sponsors and supporters. Funds raised through Playing for Change will go directly to the front-line programs and services offered at the Inn.
